Please understand we are a farm with hundreds of animals and full time jobs and cannot answer phone calls. Private message through our farm page on Facebook or text message to my cell phone (352)467-2600 are the best forms of communication for us. Please allow 48-72 hour response. Emails work as well but response can take a little longer. Please do not expect a response on Sunday or major holiday.

Please understand I will not return messages or emails requesting advice on how to become a farm or how to raise chickens. I am sorry, you will have to do your own research just like I did mine. I am a continuous learner myself. Everyday is a new experience. In the same token, I am not a vet. I am not qualified to diagnose and treat any illnesses within your backyard flock whether your birds came from my farm or another place. I can’t and will not offer you advice on how to raise your birds.

We are a closed farm and operate by appointment only. All appointments are pick up only. We do not conduct farm tours. Biosecurity is our number one safety rule for the welfare of the birds we have the honor to steward. Most poultry diseases are brought in through cross contamination. Bird dander of an infected chicken can cause a lot of damage to a farm. We have hundreds of chickens in our premise at any given time. People carry bird dander in their clothes, shoes, and hair, thus we strict visits to our operation in the back as much as possible. However, there are times when a visit close to the breeding pens is necessary and appropriate, depending on what you are here for. In that case, we ask that you shower before coming to our farm and wear clean clothes. Other requirements are explained below if your appointment warrant a visit to the operation.

When visiting our farm (with a purpose and appointment), you are required to wear shoe covers that we provide or step into a shallow pen with disinfectant. Either procedure is a requirement to ensure you are not tracking anything from our place to yours, nor bringing anything from your place to ours. This is to avoid cross contamination. For this reason, it is best that you wear tennis shoes or garden boots when visiting. I may also provide you with a hair net which keeps your from accumulating bird dander on your hair. These are the two most common ways people can, inadvertently, contaminate a flock with infectious poultry diseases that will dwell on the soil for generations to come. Best way to keep a flock healthy is preventing it from ever happening.

During your visit, you will stay clear from the birds. We do not allow anyone to touch or handle our birds. We welcome our customers to observe and select the birds they wish to purchase, but, at our property, we will handle them for you, from catching them, to loading them up in your crate.

Marek’s Vaccination Policy

We vaccinate all of our newborn chicks against Marek’s disease as soon as hatching is finished and before we place them in a well sanitized brooder that has been made ready for them . This is a personal choice we made a few years back, after hearing Dr. Dan Wolf, at the Chicken Expo Conference, Bartow FL, 2017, state that all chickens have Marek’s. Marek’s disease is very common virus that affects millions of chickens around the globe. After conducting extensive research on this topic, we decided to adopt the vaccine and good sanitation practices of our incubators and brooders as a preventive step against this terrible disease.

All in all, there are no guarantees that vaccinated birds will be 100% protected against Marek’s but it is a good preventive step. Hence, we make no guarantee that any birds you get from us won’t be infected and become sick with this illness.

Marek’s vaccine facts:

Vaccinated birds cannot harm unvaccinated birds in the same flock, but unvaccinated birds who have contracted the chicken version of the virus can infect a vaccinated bird.

Vaccinated birds can still get infected with Marek’s, depending on the strain of the virus that is present in the environment they live in.

Once a bird is infected with Marek’s it is infected for life whether or not the bird becomes sick.

Not all birds will become sick due to Mareks. so immune system also plays a role.

A vaccinated bird necropsy will show Marek’s on the PCR test.

Fowl Pox Vaccination Policy

Any birds that are still here at 8 weeks are also vaccinated against fowl pox at the precise age of 8 weeks. We do this prior to transferring the bird outside where it will be exposed to elements. I am please to report, that since we have began this vaccine program in 2018, we have seen 0 (zero) birds becoming infected with fowl pox on our farm. Nonetheless, we make no guarantee that any birds you purchase from us will not contract the virus at some point in their lives. This also depends on your bird husbandry practices in keeping your yard free of mosquitoes as much as you can. We vaccinate but we also maintain sound mosquito prevention protocol in our premises.

Quarantine

This is a VERY IMPORTANT step that should be taken for granted. As good stewards of birds, we recommend all new additions be quarantined for 30 days from your existing flock. This time allows for your new birds to acclimate and get used to their new environment, thus, reducing stress which is the leading cause of the onset of most common poultry diseases.

Purchase of live animals

WE DO NOT HOLD BIRDS UNLESS WE CHOOSE TO DO SO, GIVEN SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES.

Please bring your own carrier for anything other than baby chicks. We are not responsible for ANY losses that may occur during transport. Please ensure your carrier is adequate (will keep your bird(s) comfortable and safe, with enough room and good ventilation).

When you purchase any live animal from us (baby chicks, pullets, cockerels, laying hens, roosters, quail, ducks, etc...), please understand ALL sales are FINAL. Under no circumstances, there will be returns or replacements. In extremely rare and special cases, we may issue credit or offer a replacement at our discretion. Every six months, our flock is tested for potential deadly diseases prone to our state. We are negative for Avian influenza and Pullorum Typhoid. MS, MG, and New Castle has NEVER been detected on birds in our farm. Once a year, we also undergo hatchery inspection.

We do not willingly sell anyone an unhealthy bird. We make sure that all birds leaving our premise to yours look healthy, are actively engaged in activities that emulates their age (eating, drinking, walking, dust bathing, laying, being vocal, producing normal droppings, displaying normal interaction with other birds), and are free of external parasites (we always check the bird before it is adopted).

If your bird shows symptoms of any health distress at any time in their lives, it is best to reach out to your local veterinarian for the right diagnosis and treatment. Please understand we are unable to assist with any sickness or illness in anyone’s backyard flock other than our own. We breed and raise a variety of breeds of chickens but we are not qualified to provide expert advice or diagnosis to what could be a life threatening condition.

Please understand that once you drive off with the animals you have chosen to raise, they are now yours and are under your care. Anything that happens to them after you take them is beyond our control, thus, we cannot be held responsible.

We are not responsible for any vet bills.

We are not responsible for any predator incidents or any bacteria or virus contracted by birds living outside our farm.

We have the right to cancel any order or appointment due to unforeseen circumstance, or if we need to retain for our own breeding stock.

Bird Outcome

We are not responsible for bird outcome, such as temperament or gender. We do not have nor breed aggressive birds. We cannot re-home your male birds for you or take them in. If your bird has turned out to be something other than you expected, there are several backyard chicken support groups on Facebook that can be a wonderful resource to you. We manage a private livestock group on Facebook called All Florida Livestock Welcome.

Hatching Egg Order

All hatching eggs are pre-orders. Minimum order of 6 eggs. When ordering hatching eggs, please factor in the number of eggs that may not develop nor hatch; please be also mindful of the ratio of males vs. females you might get. Due to factors beyond our control (hatching techniques, humidity, weather, USPS handling) we cannot be held responsible for eggs that don't develop or poor hatch rates. There are no refunds nor replacement for eggs that don't hatch. Please note that just because an egg does not develop, it does not mean it is infertile. There is only one way to know if an egg is fertile and unfortunately, that means breaking the egg open to look for the white spot, which is the germinal disk. (looks like a donut!!) You will see a yellow hole in the center and there would indicate that the egg is fertile. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE HATCH RATES OUTSIDE OUR FARM. Avoid counting your chicks before they hatch!! We do not offer eggs from any breed that we have not successfully hatched ourselves. We scrutinize the eggs we sell. We only sell and send the freshest eggs collected within a max of 72 hour collection, kept under appropriate temperature and turned frequently throughout the day. The eggs we pack for you will be free of any deformities and defects.

For now, we only ship within the 48 contiguous states. This excludes Alaska, Hawaii, America Samoa, The U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

All eggs are shipped unwashed and double-boxed, packaged with love and care.

Buyer assumes all risk when purchasing hatching eggs.

There are no refunds and/nor replacements for undeveloped on unhatched eggs.

If you want your package to be held for pick up, you must provide a good contact number that USPS can use to call when eggs arrive.

Upon arrival at the post office, please open the box and carefully inspect the cargo inside. If you receive a broken egg, please report it to the clerk and file a claim to recover your loss at that time. All shipped hatching egg orders are insured for $100. Make sure you have good pictures.
