Our Stroy

It all began with eight little chicks my husband brought home from the feed store one day. He thought it would be a fun, neat little project for our girls to raise chicks and learn where food comes from. Eight little chicks was all that took!! Eight little chicks put us under some type of chicken spell. All of a sudden, we were having fun cleaning the coup, collecting eggs, watching the chickens running towards us for treats. We found ourselves enjoying the outdoors and sipping our coffee surrounded by chickens! Soon, 7 chickens (One died by dog accident. I was devastated and needed a replacement immediately!!) . We had to get more chickens! Our flock slowly grew from 8 to 29, to 40, to 400 to 625 at one time!

I am a full time public school teacher and my husband is a senior communication technician. He works full time from home. Our girls, Vitoria (15) and Savanna (10) attend Liberty University Academy Online and are homeschooled. My son, Justin, works for UPS and attends the local community college. Together, we all take part in raising and caring for our farm animals.

We have slowly become a well established small scale, family owned and operated farm located in the charming town of Dade City, FL. We raise heritage and rare breeds of chickens, coturnix quail, and waterfowl on a total of 12 acres (separate pastures we own); green pastures at our animals' disposal. The actual operation is at our place of residence, on 4 acres. We also raise a small herd of Nigerian Dwarf goats, cattle, and swine (purebread Hereford pigs). We rotate them across the pastures as needed. We raise our chickens from day one. Many of them hatch in our premise. We feed premium quality NON GMO soy free feed to our flock. We are registered with the Florida Department of State and with the Florida Department of Agriculture where we uphold a limited egg and poultry license. We are also registered with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and uphold a gamebird farm permit.

Currently, our free-range eggs can be purchased at the Farmhouse Market & Cafe in downtown Dade City and in the Wesley Chapel area through Dube's Mobile Market as well as locally by appointment. Whole dressed chickens are available a few times a year, on a pre-order basis. We occasionally deliver fresh whole dressed chickens to the Farmhouse Market & Cafe to be sold as fresh frozen.

We ship hatching eggs to the 48 congruent states in the USA. We participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) # 58-2577E. This means our breeding flock is tested twice a year for potential illnesses common in our state. We are AI/PT clean.

Everything moves at our farm. Prior to field exposure, our 8 week chicks are vaccinated against Fowl Pox (except those raised for meat and free range pasture raised eggs) and moved out of the brooder room to the pasture to continue growing on the grass, in mobile chicken houses or hand made chicken tractors that we have built. These birds are moved on a fixed schedule, usually daily to a fresh spot.

Appointments for bird sales are scheduled for Saturdays between 11am -5 pm. Quick pick ups may be available during the week, by appointment, and after 5:30 pm.

We encourage our customers to check out our  fam policy first as many aspects of the business may be unknown to some people.

It is important you understand we do not conduct farm tours, provide step by step assistance in starting a farm, or give you advice on what to do with a sick bird. We are not a rescue or bird sanctuary. We do not bring in free birds from anywhere. We are breeders. Chickens are my therapy and a business passion I have grown from the ground up. I am still learning myself. It is hard work 365 days a year.

You are more than welcome to request appointment to purchase any of the products available on the store. If it’s not listed on the store, it is not available.
