Chicken Care

Raising backyard chickens is one of the most rewarding and gratifying experiences one can experience. Personally, raising chickens has been a life changing experience for me. When I am in the field caring for them, I feel closer to God. My chickens give me joy and happiness. They make me smile and they me feel light. Nonetheless, I too have had my fair share of challenges. There is a lot of joy in raising backyard chickens, but I can tell you it's not always sunshine and roses all the time. From time to time, we are challenged by predators, pestilence, sickness, as well as external factors like volatile feed prices. These are factors a flock owner has to be prepared to respond from time to time.

All in all, I do rejoice more than I shed tears. With chickens, anything is possible, and everything is unpredictable. The best way to raise a happy and healthy flock is to be observant and PREVENT, PREVENT, PREVENT. Prevention is key to maintaining a healthy flock. I am putting together a list of helpful resources that I have used and found to be effective in my journey as a chicken breeder.

First on my list is the Chicken Doctor, Peter Brown. I have found him to be a wonderful source of knowledge and first aid for the birds I reached out to him about. You can contact Peter Brown on ASK THE CHICKEN DOCTOR. I have also purchased dozens of products from his website FIRST VET SUPPLY.
